Ofsted Report

Ofsted Inspection Report of Derwent Lower School, February 8th and 9th 2011

We are delighted with the findings of the inspectors who overall judged the school to be “good”. As a consequence the school has now been removed by Ofsted from the notice to improve category.

We are particularly delighted that the inspectors found the effectiveness of safeguarding procedures and the effectiveness of the governing body to be “good” as these two areas were deemed inadequate at the last inspection. Similarly we were delighted the pupils achievement and the extent to which they enjoy learning was also seen to be good – this reflects the hard work put in by both pupils and staff .

Of course the inspection team found some areas where they would like us to develop further and it is always useful to have this sort of advice.

Thank you to all parents who completed the Ofsted questionnaire, these comments are reflected at the end of the report.

Our aim for future inspections is for every aspect of the school to be judged either good or outstanding. Many thanks for your continued support. Together we can ensure that we build upon this splendid success.
